Customer Reviews about Spicer Police Department:

  • ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆
I am 21 year old male and was a passenger in a car tonight in Spicer, MN, I had consumed alcohol that day. A female was driving hadnt consumed alcohol, there was 2 other gentlemen, and another woman. We were pulled over by Josiah Puckett, because our headlight was out. The cop asked for the drivers ID and proof of insurance. The driver did not own the car, one of the male passengers parents owned the car. The cop then asked for the passenger(male, front of car) to step out, he then asked him for his ID. The male passenger politely said he didnt need to provide an ID. The cop then asked "are you a lawyer?". The male passenger kindly replied that he was not in fact a lawyer. The cop then said that the male passenger was giving him attitude. The male passenger remained calm and polite, stating that he was not giving any attitude. The cop then said that he had to provide ID. The state of Minnesota has not passed the "stop and identify" laws. Therefore, the passenger would not be required to provide ID. The cop said because the male passenger did not LOOK 21 he needed to provide ID because he thought he was drinking. After raising his voice repeatedly, the male passenger handed over his ID. The two other male passengers tested positive for alcohol along with the passenger female. They were breathalyzed and told that breathalyzers were not admissible in court. He then issued tickets for consumption of alcohol. The male passenger who was told to step out of the car was given a ticket that stated the "driver", "operate", and "owner". The car was owned by the male passenger's parents and he was listed as a driver on the insurance. He again was in the front passenger seat. Now if he would have been the driver, been underage, and the cop had let us drive away, that would have been against the law. If he had been driving as well he should have been arrested for that. So because, the passenger had known his rights and was well within his rights, he was vocally intimidated and pressured to produce an ID, received an inaccurate ticket. That is unacceptable, it is against the law for a cop to wrongfully write reports. It appears that this officer, because the passenger knew his rights, wrote an inaccurate ticket against him. The fact that cops such as Josiah Puckett are allowed to intimidate people and bend the rules to force people to do things is obscene.
